HBOS Systems Back Online

hbos_logoWe’ve been advised that the HBOS systems hit by the power issues earlier today are back up and running, though there may still be some residual effects to their online banking service.  Although disruptive to customers, on a positive note these occasional events provide the IT providers with a good reminder of where their systems are exposed.

HBOS gave us an updated statement this afternoon:

Due to external power disruption in Yorkshire, which impacted one of our IT centres there, some Halifax and Bank of Scotland systems were affected this morning. Power was restored to the centre via our back up generators in the late morning and all systems, including cash machines, are running normally as of 14.30. We are still experiencing some problems with Internet Banking which we hope to have resolved shortly.
