Halifax Online Share Dealing moving to a new home

Halifax have announced plans to move their Online Share Dealing Service out of their existing Online Banking Website and into a completely new and separate site.  If you currently have a Share Dealing Account setup, then from the 23rd August 2010 you will need to visit the new site at www.halifaxsharedealing.co.uk/online.

Apparently the Share Dealing will still be visible on your Online Banking summary screen, but clicking on the account will send you to the new website and require you to log-in again.  The log-in details (user-name, password and security question) will be the same as the ones you used before in Online Banking.

We’re not quite sure why the two services are be separated, but assume that it allows Halifax more flexibility in developing the sites.  We’ll keep you updated as and when we here more from them.

Additionally the new Share Dealing site will have the following extra ‘features’, but we’re not sure how worthy these are until we get to have a look at the new site.

  • Market quotes
  • Market information
  • Market research centre
  • Interactive demo suite

Users of the Share Dealing service will be e-mailed when the new site goes live, but in the meantime you can contact their Share Dealing Online Helpdesk on 0845 604 6476 for immediate queries on these changes.
